Why Does Radio Still Matter?

The radio is an arm of the corporate-controlled music machine, but so is just about everything. There aren’t many anarcho-freegan record labels. While its prescriptive powers are strong, it’s ultimately a reflection of what people want to hear. Like a good democracy, it’s imperfect, messy, and gives you exactly what you deserve.
